Sermon: The Holy Addict (Part One - Watered Down Gardens in Concrete Jungles)

  • Candler UMC 4236 Roy Parks Road Gainesville, GA, 30507 United States (map)

Most of us are tired.

Not just "need-a-nap" tired, but soul-weary. We live in a culture that treats hurry as a status symbol and "busy" as a badge of honor. We’ve become addicted to the noise, the hustle, and the digital grind of the concrete jungle.

But what if this frantic pace isn't just a scheduling problem? What if it’s a spiritual one?

This Sunday, Feb 8, we begin our new series: The Holy Addict. Drawing on the ancient wisdom of Isaiah 58 and the modern insights of John Mark Comer, we’ll explore what it means to "ruthlessly eliminate hurry" from our lives. We’ll look at the "true fast"—unhitching ourselves from the yoke of the frantic to become what God promised:

A well-watered garden.

Join us as we learn to slow down, breathe, and find a rhythm that actually sustains us.

When: Sunday, February 8, 2026 Time: 9:30am Where: Candler UMC 4236 Roy Parks Rd in Gainesville GA

Come as you are. Leave a little slower.
